In this course, you will learn This is an advanced web site design course. Students will enhance their knowledge and skills for designing, creating, and presenting web pages through web editing, graphics, and animation applications.
Students will learn the techniques for creating interactivity, animation, and sound. Various animation assignments will be provided to help advance the student’s knowledge in interactivity on the Internet. The instructor will provide assessment for these assignments in the hopes of continuous improvement. A fully functioning Flash Movie will bring all the interactive and animation skills together.
A web site will be designed and developed by the student throughout the course and will be published at the end of the semester. A Mid-point Review by both the instructor and your peers will help guide each student to a successful design.
Prerequisites
The following are required for entry into this course:
- Must have completed ART 116 - Design for the Web I
- Must have access to the internet, Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 and Flash 8 and Photoshop.
- Ability to meet online on required dates (please see schedule).
- Have access to a microphone.

Objectives |

If you complete this course and do well, you will be able to:
1. To teach students advanced web page design
2. Explore visual communication through the use of interactivity and animation.
Color, composition, scale, typography and other design elements.
3. To teach students site functionality and usability
4. Consider dynamic approaches to interface and navigation design.
5. Learn advanced techniques in Dreamweaver
6. Utilize slice objects in ImageReady.
7. Learn the basics of animation in Flash.

0 - 25 points will be given for completion and quality of work, criteria is met, as well as ontime submission. |

Web Site Project
and Mid-Point Review |
0 - 50 points will be given for completion and quality of work, criteria is met, as well as ontime submission.
0-10 points will be given based on completion of 4 fully functions, completly designed pages. |

0 - 10 points will be given based on explanation in written statements. There are two exams during the semester.

All due dates are considered final, any late submissions will result in a one point reduction for each week late. Just so you are aware I grade on Tuesdays!
Exams must be taken during assigned week. If the mid-term exam is taken late your final grade will drop one whole letter grade for that exam. The final exam may not be taken late.
Your final points will be averaged together with the total number of points possible in the course.

Exams |

There are 2 exams in this course. You are expected to take your examinations at one of the NVCC campus Testing Centers. Be sure to allow enough time to complete your exam before the Testing Center closes; Testing Centers have specific policies relating to the administration of ELI exams. You will need to take a photo ID, your NovaConnect empl ID number, and the appropriate Exam Pass when you go to the Testing Center.

Beginning the Course |

1. Use your web browser to connect to http://www.nvcc.edu/bbstart. Follow the directions to determine your email, Blackboard and VIVA account user names and passwords.
2. Access your email account and make sure you know how to use it; you will be required to use this account for all course-related email.
3. Log on to Blackboard at http://learn.vccs.edu.
4. Click on this course under "My Courses." Review the entire course to make sure you understand what will be required of you. Then start completing the assignments.
