Introduces understanding, speaking, reading and writing skills and emphasizes basic French sentence structure.
Beginning French, a basic introductory course, places emphasis on the development of proficiency in the follow ing skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. Students learn to function in the language w ithin a limited context of vocabulary and structure. The course also includes a general introduction to culture.
The following are required for entry into this course:

Objectives |

If you do well in this course, you will be able to:
- Communicate and survive in a French-speaking environment.
- Understand short conversations and responses to your questions.
- Participate in simple conversations, such as talking about yourself and your family, asking for directions, finding places, buying things.
- Read ads and simple forms.
- Write autobiographical information, and fill out simple forms and documents, make lists.
