Provides an in-depth exploration of various security layers needed to protect the network. Explores Network Security from the point of view of the environment in which the network operates and the necessity to secure that environment in order to lower the security risk to the network. Discusses physical security, personnel security, operating system security, software security and database security.
Prerequisite: IST AAS degree or equivalent and successful completion of the Network Security Certification 1st semester.

Withdrawal & Incomplete Grade
Part of the package mailed to each one of you is your start and end dates. I encourage you to keep your steady pace so as to meet your deadline(s)
These specific policies will apply to this class:
- Administrative Withdrawal - I will administratively withdraw any student(s) on the 6th week if the following assginments have not been submitted:
- Introduction - posted on Discussion Board
- Case Exercise - e-mailed to me.
- Extensions will not be granted automatically. To be granted extensions all of these conditions must be met:
- The student will request extension in writing
- The student has completed 50% of the course work. 50% is defined as:
- student has completed two exams.
- student has completed Introduction, CE Questions #1 & #2 - Discussion Board.
- student has submitted Case Exercise.
The instructor will respond in writing to the student's request. The response will specify the period of extension. Only one extension per student will granted

There are 3 exams in this course. You are expected to take your examinations at one of the NVCC campus Testing Centers. Be sure to allow enough time to complete your exam before the Testing Center closes; Testing Centers have specific policies relating to the administration of ELI exams. You will need to take a photo ID, your NovaConnect empl ID number, and the appropriate Exam Pass when you go to the Testing Center.

Beginning the Course |

1. Use your web browser to connect to http://www.nvcc.edu/bbstart. Follow the directions to determine your email, Blackboard and VIVA account user names and passwords.
2. Access your email account and make sure you know how to use it; you will be required to use this account for all course-related email.
3. Log on to Blackboard at http://learn.vccs.edu
4. Click on this course under "My Courses." Review the entire course to make sure you understand what will be required of you. Then start completing the assignments.
Please note that account generation takes approximately one week from the time of your paid registration. If you cannot log on after one week, contact the IT Help Desk. If you can log on to Blackboard, but your course isn't listed, please contact ELI or your instructor.
