UNIT 1 will introduce you to the course and Homer's Iliad. This Unit will ask you to:

• Task 1 write your Introduction
• Task 2 read Thompson, The Trojan War, chapters 1 (Bronze
• Age), 2 (Oral Poetry) and 3 (Homer's Iliad).
• Task 3 read the Iliad
• Task 4 Explore the Homer and the Troy Cycle area of the Troy site and select and write two Activities on the Iliad 
• Task 5 take Exam 1  

Go to Blackboard and select the "My Schedule" link from the left menu buttons. You should print out this schedule. Look at the schedule to get an overview of the assignments for each Unit and when they will be due (based on your individual enrollment date). I will under NO CIRCUMSTANCES grade more than one piece of work in a single day, so you must plan accordingly.

This will help you to plan your Activities for Unit 1. Write down brief notes about the Activities on your Student Grade Form to help you keep track of what you intend to do and when it is due.

Please do all work in sequence. Complete both Activity 1 and 2 BEFORE taking Exam 1.
