TROY WEB AND ITS AREAS
This course is built around the Troy Web, which
is divided into twelve Areas. Each Area deals with a
particular author (i.e. Homer) or Troy issue (i.e. Bronze
Age). There is a menu of the all the Areas on the left side
of the main page of each Troy Web Area. The Areas are
arranged chronologically, starting with the Bronze Age and
ending with current Troy materials, including cartoons,
films and games and popular novels as well as serious
literature.
Each Area offers links to a wide range of related information, including electronic texts of Troy stories, bibliographies, art images, museum sites,
film reviews, background information on the stories and authors, plot summaries and character lists.
The course textbook The Trojan War
functions as a fully developed study guide for the Areas
of the Troy Web, so you will use the book and the Troy Web
in close coordination.
You will be asked to briefly explore all
twelve Troy Areas on the Troy Web and select five or six
Areas to work with during the course. Each Area
includes a list of Activities, a
Bibliography of related literature and other readings, and
an Area Forum on Blackboard where you will post your
completed Activities.
You need to complete a total of 10
Activities for the course.
