Professor: Matthew Pearcy

Overview

HIS 122 United States History II covers American history from Reconstruction to the recent past (approximately 1980).  The web site for the course can be found at http://www.sagehistory.net/

The course is divided into three chronological parts as follows:

  • Part 1: America from 1865-1916
  • Part 2: America Looks Outward
  • Part 3: America 1920-1945
  • Part 4: Postwar America

Prerequisite : There are no prerequisites exist for this course, but it requires intensive reading and good writing.  You should be able to read and write at a level sufficient to complete ENG 111.  If your reading and writing skills are not yet ready to do college work, your grade will no doubt reflect that fact.

Computer skills are essential and you will be expected to participate through the Internet in addition to your presence in class. In addition, you should be able to:

  • send and receive email, including attaching files or opening attached files;
  • participate in an online forum; and
  • access resources on the World Wide Web and know how to document those sources.
