BUS 200: Principles of Management - Adult Learning Initiative (3 Credits)
Professor: John Andreoli

Overview

This course provides students with a theoretical knowledge of the role, functions, and environment of the manager. Students will learn about the development of management principles and their integration into modern management theory. The primary management functions and skills required to perform those functions will be studied and analyzed. The course is a basic preparation for the knowledge and understanding required to (1) become an effective manager and (2) study management application techniques offered in BUS 202 - "Applied Management Principles".

This section of BUS 200 is linked with BUS 100 in a learning community.  What does that mean exactly?  Normally, you will have the same classmates in both of your courses.  You will begin to get to know each other (and the instructors) as you discuss issues, review each other’s work and complete group assignments.  You will cover all of the concepts that are required for these two classes, but, in some cases, work on an assignment that will be used in some fashion for both courses.  The instructors have worked together to make sure that the courses are integrated and make the best use of your time and energy.   This is an exciting educational endeavor and we hope you find it contributes to your learning.

Entry Level Competencies: An ability to read, comprehend, analyze material written at a college level. An ability to write and present ideas using standard English.

NOTE: This course requires completing assignments on a fixed weekly schedule with possible midweek deadlines.
