ECO 120 - SURVEY OF ECONOMICS (3 Credits)
 
Overview

This is an introductory course on the basics of macro and microeconomics. It presents a broad overview of economic theory, history, development, and application, introduces terms, definitions, policies, and philosophies of market economies, and provides some comparison with other economic systems. You'll learn by reading the text, discussing key concepts with your classmates,and  applying the concepts to the real world.

Objectives
 

There are no prerequisites for entry into this course.  However, it is highly recommended that you have  -

  • As a minimum, obtained satisfactory scores on the English placement test, ENG 013 or equivalent. 
  • Basic math knowledge.
  • Good reading and writing skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer (web browsers and word processors).

If you successfully complete this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the workings of the American economic system.
  • Understand United States economic issues and policies as related by the news media.
  • Become a discerning voter with respect to economic issues and policies.
