FRE 101: Beginning French I (5 Credits)
Professor: Dr. Laura Franklin

Overview

This is a course that teaches skills:  speaking and listening, reading and writing, as well as cultural information.  Students completing the course can reasonably expect to achieve the same level of proficiency in French as those who take the course on campus.  Learning a language is much like learning to play a sport, or an instrument - it requires steady application on a regular basis, so plan your time accordingly

Weekly Requirements:

  • Weekly ACTIVE participation. Participation monitored through Blackboard time stamps. Penalties for non-compliance.
  • Successful memorization of assigned material, and proof of practice
  • Completion of all written and oral assignments
  • Completion of  all scheduled quizzes and tests
  • You will be required to do a once weekly communication assignment in French  that may be completed online, on the phone or face to face. These must be done once weekly and must be verifiable by your instructor.
