SDV 298: PLACE Seminar (1 Credits)
Overview

In this course, you will work to identify and document your prior learning experiences through the development of at least one e-portfolio. At the conclusion of the course, this e-portfolio will be submitted to a faculty member who will evaluate your work for possible NOVA credit.

Entry Level Competencies: The following are recommended course prerequisites: (suggested, not required) 

  • ... Placement into ENG 111 at NOVA or equivalent college experience
  • ... Basic ability to use the computer
  • ... Prior learning experience (from work, volunteering, hobbies, etc.) for  which you are seeking credit at NOVA

If you do well in this course, you will be able to:

  1. Understand and appreciate the value of learning from life experience
  2. Understand and appreciate NOVA's expectations for portfolio development and standards for submission of portfolios for credit
  3. Set goals for your life and career
  4. Engage in self-reflective writing and compile supporting documentation in order to produce a comprehensive and well-designed e-portfolio
  5. Develop the necessary skills to create a personalized e-portfolio website using Weebly or another platform online
