How to Collaborate in Groups on Blackboard

Groups

I will place you in a group for the group projects about the 3rd week of your enrollment. To find your group:

  1. Click the Groups button.
  2. Click the name of each group until you see your name in the Group Members section.

Group Discussion Forums

Each group has a private discussion forum that works like the class discussion forums. Only the members of the group and I can see the messages. To use your group's forum:

  1. Click the Groups button.
  2. Click the name of your group.
  3. Click Group Discussion Board.

Group Collaboration Sessions

Each group can create live collaboration sessions. These are like chat or instant messaging sessions. To start a session:

  1. Click the Groups button.
  2. Click the name of your group.
  3. Click Collaboration.
  4. Create a new session by clicking the + Collaboration Session button near the top of the page. (Ignore the Lecture Hall and Office Hours items already listed.)
  5. When the Add Collaboration Session form appears, accept all the defaults and click the Submit button.
  6. Once the session has been added to the list, everybody in the group can click the Join button to participate.
  7. Whoever starts the session should click the button with the circle in the upper right corner of the session window to start recording the session.
