How to Collaborate in Groups on Blackboard
Groups
I will place you in a group for the group projects about the 3rd week of your enrollment. To find your group:
- Click the Groups button.
- Click the name of each group until you see your name in the Group Members section.
Group Discussion Forums
Each group has a private discussion forum that works like the class discussion forums. Only the members of the group and I can see the messages. To use your group's forum:
- Click the Groups button.
- Click the name of your group.
- Click Group Discussion Board.
Group Collaboration Sessions
Each group can create live collaboration sessions. These are like chat or instant messaging sessions. To start a session:
- Click the Groups button.
- Click the name of your group.
- Click Collaboration.
- Create a new session by clicking the + Collaboration Session button near the top of the page. (Ignore the Lecture Hall and Office Hours items already listed.)
- When the Add Collaboration Session form appears, accept all the defaults and click the Submit button.
- Once the session has been added to the list, everybody in the group can click the Join button to participate.
- Whoever starts the session should click the button with the circle in the upper right corner of the session window to start recording the session.
