VET 122: Clinical Practices II (3 Credits)

Overview

Under supervision of staff veterinarians and veterinary technicians the students will work together as part of the veterinary medical care team. This includes patient presentation, laboratory evaluation, radiology anesthesia, pre-and post-surgical preparation, and surgical assisting.

a. Practical application of techniques previously learned in laboratory techniques, surgery, patient care, anesthesia, and radiology.

b. Patient presentation and medical records.

c. Surgical assisting.

d. Pre- and post-operative patient care.

e. Bandaging and casting techniques.

f. Dental prophylaxis.

g. Maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in the veterinary facility.

h. Surgical clean-up.
