Week 13
DNA: Structure and Replication

Lecture Assignment
Read : Chapter 15
Study : Objectives 1-3 and 10 in Unit 6
Additional Resources
This is the last major unit in Bio 101.  Yes, Unit 7 is still ahead, but it reviews a lot of the information you studied in Unit 1.  So, as the semester winds down, try to put in one last great effort into studying the material in this unit.  This material represents the cutting edge of biology.  Each day you will find items in the paper that assume that you have a basic understanding of molecular genetics.
In addition, there is an abundance of web resources on molecular genetics. The premiere site is Access Excellence.  There is so much information at this site that it's easy to get lost!  But then again, you'll probably bump into a lot of interesting material. You might try exploring the site in this order:
The Search for DNA
The Structure of DNA
Possible Models for DNA Replication
Access Excellence also has an area that is useful in understanding the molecular genetics lab.  Try the links under Forensics on this Biotech Applied page.
Quiz 5
This quiz covers the matterial covered in Unit 5 in the Study Guide and is worth 90 points. The quiz starts at 1pm.
