For the midterm exam, which you should take by the end of week five of your enrollment in the course, you should read the Findley/Rothney textbook chapters 10-18.  You may also decide to read some of the earlier chapters in the book.  Take a moment and read some of my notes on Decolonization and the Human Rights

The midterm exam will consist of three parts:  map quiz (50 points), chronology (50 points) and essay (100 points).

For the Map quiz, you already have a copy of the blank map and a list of items to be located on the map.  On the exam, you will receive another blank map and be asked to locate twenty-five items.

For the Chronology, you will list (in chronological order) fifteen (15) significant world events, that you choose, since 1945.  Identify and explain the importance of each.
See the sample chronology.

The Essay, approximately two-three pages in length, that you will write in the testing lab is as follows:

Summarize and characterize the changing political environment in the world since 1945.

Please take the time to organize your thoughts in a logical manner and cite evidence to support your analysis.

You may choose to listen to some short remarks by your instructor about the midterm exam as a mp3 file.  You can also read the instructions as a txt file.
You may wish to participate in the Blackboard online discussion of the midterm essay assignment before you take the exam.
