Notes on the Worker and Farm Girl Statue

For some other views of the statue and some info about the author see Vera Mukhina or Vera Mukhina, Sculptress.   The statue was the work of Vera Mukhina (1889-1953) for the Soviet Pavilion at the Paris World's Fair (Exposition Internationale) in 1937; it now stands at the north entrance to the All-Russian Exhibition Center.  Read some details about the creation of the statue and plans for its future, english.mn.ru/english/issue.php?2002-5-9.  Those of you who are film buffs will recognize the statue as the old symbol of Mosfilm studio.
