This letter is simply a means for me to get to know you. It does not count toward your final grade.

The purpose is to describe the uses of technical knowledge about computer hardware and systems software. The uses in the chapter are described in terms of structured system development life cycle phases and the persons who participate in the life cycle. The chapter describes various sources of knowledge about computer hardware and system software and provides a list of recommended periodicals.
