Reading Materials, Lectures & Learning Tools

 

There is no required textbook for this course.  Instead, students are expected to:

-          study the readings,

-          listen to the mini-lectures, 

-          watch the demonstrations provided online for each Unit, and

-          use either an MLA or APA citation manual available in their campus library, or citation style guides located online as appropriate.  If students wish to purchase their own style manual, LBR 105 instructors recommend either one of the following OPTIONAL texts:

Gibaldi, Joseph.  MLA Handbook for Writers of Research PapersNew York: Modern Language Association of America, 2003 .  
(Most often used with Humanities courses.)

American Psychological Association.  Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. 5th ed. Washington, D.C.: American Psychological Association, 2001.
(Used with Social Science courses.)

Most Mini-Lectures and Demonstrations are approximately 5 minutes long; none is longer than 10 minutes.
