You will need copies of each of these four plays:
- A Midsummer Night's Dream
- Much Ado About Nothing
- Othello
- Hamlet
You can find print versions of these texts in collections of Shakespeare's plays, in individual paperback versions, or on-line. We will rely on the No Fear Shakespeare for class readings and discussions. Please note: the printed and hardbound book copies of the plays are the only kind you can use to take your exams.
You will need access to specific film versions of the four plays:
- A Midsummer Night's Dream(1999), starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Rupert Everett, Kevin Kline, Callista Flockhart, and Stanley Tucci
- Much Ado About Nothing(1993), starring Emma Thompson, Kenneth Branagh, Michael Keaton, Denzel Washington, and Keanu Reeves
- Othello(1995) starring Laurence Fishburne, Kenneth Branagh, Irene Jacob, and Nathaniel Parker
- Hamlet(1997), starring Kenneth Branagh, Derek Jacobi, Julie Christie, Billy Crystal, Robin Williams, Kate Winslett, and Charlton Heston
