In order to successfully complete this course, you must demonstrate your understanding of the course materials.

Here is an overview of all of the different types of assignments in the course. You can find the detailed directions for the assignments and the grading rubrics in the module where they are assigned.

Introduction

The Introduction gives you an opportunity to introduce yourself to the class and to your instructor. These introductions allow us to get to know each other better in the online environment.

Homework Assignments (on Connect)

You will complete homework assignments for each chapter on Connect (15 questions per chapter).  Homework assignments cover all or most of the learning objectives for each chapter.

LS/Smartbook

30 minutes for each chapter - all LOs except appendix.

Practice Exams

There are 2 Practice Exams. The content each practice exam covers is similar to the exam and chapters covered by the proctored exam. Practice exams are not graded and you have unlimited attempts with detailed feedback after each attempt.

Discussion

You are required to complete 4 Discussions (original posts and responses) in the Discussion Board.

Connect Exams

Exams 1 and 4 are on Connect. Each exam has 25 questions and cover the learning objectives of each chapter.

Proctored Exams

The proctored exams provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate your mastery of the course knowledge. You will be provided an exam guide for each exam. Also, you can find the information on how to take proctored exams in the Taking Exams and Using Exam Passes section of the Syllabus.

Evaluation-Extra Credit

NOVA values your feedback on every course. This is important to us as we work to improve our instruction and course design. Each semester, course evaluations are made available near the end of the session (8 or 16 week sessions). You should be sent an email when these are available. Please be sure to complete for this course before the end date (usually a few days before the course ends). Your professor does not have access to your actual ratings or comments (until after your final grades are posted) but will know the percent of students who complete the evaluation. As an incentive to complete your evaluation, your professor will award you 5 points extra credit if 70% of the class completes. Please help us by completing your evaluation as soon as it is available. The extra credit will be awarded by your professor when the evaluation closes (a few days before the course ends).
