Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

  1. read and interpret written material of a genetic nature
  2. diagram and explain the fundamentals of the chemical nature of the gene and its basic action
  3. diagram basic Mendelian crosses and predict the types and frequencies of the expected first and second generation progeny
  4. discuss the factors which affect inheritance patterns, such as sex, recombination, chromosome aberrations and point mutations
  5. interpret research data in the areas of gene action and regulation
  6. calculate gene frequencies in populations and analyze factors that affect these frequencies.
