In order to successfully complete this course, you must demonstrate your understanding of the course materials. You will accomplish this by participating in and submitting several types of assignments.

Here is an overview of all of the different types of assignments in the course. You can find the detailed directions for the assignments and the grading rubrics in the module where they are assigned.

SmartBook

SmartBook is an adaptive learning solution in Connect that provides you with personalized learning that continually adapts to pinpoint knowledge gaps and focus on learning concepts requiring additional study. Behind the scenes, SmartBook is learning to pinpoint what you really understand and where you might need additional help. As you answer questions, for both correct and incorrect answers, you will receive strategies to improve your learning.

You will also have access to YouTube videos and PowerPoint slides that are supplemental material to help you understand the book's content more in-depth.

Discussions

The discussion board activities are a good way for you to stay connected with your instructor and classmates in your online classes. The discussion activities will provide you with an opportunity to interact with other students, and get feedback on difficult statistical concepts from your instructor. The discussion activities provide you with an opportunity to deeply reflect on the readings assigned to each module and apply them to a problem. All of the posts on the discussion board are required to be thoughtful, reflective, and concise.

Homework Quizzes

There are 10 homework assignments in this course; one for each Module. The homework assignments are designed to assess your understanding of the Module’s material and as a preview of the types of questions, you will encounter on the proctored assessments. All homework assignments are multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blank, problem-solving, and true or false questions that must be completed in Connect.

Proctored Assessments (Exam 1 and Exam 2)

There will be two proctored assessments in this course. Exams 1 and 2 must be taken in a proctored environment. These proctored assessments are closed books. Each exam comprises multiple-choice, fill in the blank and true or false questions. For both proctored assessments, you may use ONLY a non-programmable calculator without Internet access. The testing center will provide you with a scratch paper, formula sheet and a Z-table and a t-table. Please find the information on how to take a proctored assessment in the Taking Proctored Assessments section below.

Final Exam Comprehensive (open-book assessment)

You will be taking a comprehensive final exam open-book and open-notes at home using Respondus LockDown Browser with a live webcam. The comprehensive final exam comprises multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blank, and true or false questions.
