The Kirk textbook is a definitive text in the field of special education. It contains some information which is beyond the scope of this course but also provides basic developmental information you need to understand specific categories of special education. Although you will read the whole textbook and need it for this course, you will not necessarily read each chapter in order or in the same depth throughout the course.
