What you learn in this course will assist the student in researching, designing and implementing a child care facility. You will learn by reading and discussing information about the profession and completing other assignments. Assignments must be completed by their due dates.

Reading & Viewing Assignments

Students are responsible for reading all required assignments in addition to viewing any video resources. It is important to keep up with these assignments so you will be able to participate in class discussions.

Quizzes

Student will complete quizzes assigned in course Modules. These quizzes will be completed in Canvas. Students may retake each quiz only one time. Since the quizzes are not proctored and are taken at home, feel free to use your text. Try taking the quiz the first time without the text and then use the text for the secomd attempt. There is a two hour time limit for each attempt, so do not start the quiz until you are ready to take it. You cannot start, stop, and restart the quizzes. Only the highest grade will count.

Assignments and Discussions

Students will be asked to provide a written response to questions, activities and assignments. Students will submit most of their responses using the Canvas Discussion tool, but will also use the Assignment tool to submit other written assignments. Some activities will require students to seek out examples of commonly used paperwork associated with developing and administering a childcare center.

Portfolio Binder Assignments

Each student is expected to complete the Portfolio Assignments as described in Canvas. The Portfolio will be a valuable resource in future career opportunities. Students will use Canvas Discussions as a forum to gather and post information. Students will also use this information to create pages for the Portfolio binder. Save findings on a flash drive or personal computer so they can be referred to as needed. Students will have the option of attending a face-2-face meeting to have their Portfolio binder checked. Towards the end of the course, the portfolio will be submitted electronically through Canvas.

Proctored Assessments

Proctored Mid-term and Final are taken online in Canvas and will have assigned due dates. The proctored assessments provide an opportunity to demonstrate mastery of the course information and material.
