In order to successfully complete this course, you must demonstrate your understanding of the course materials by:

• Demonstrating proficiency in the Commonwealth of Virginia's Technology Standards for Instructional Personnel and the National Education Technology Standards and Performance Indicators for Teachers (NETS-T).
• Using the ASSURE model to systematically plan for the effective use of technology and media in the teaching and learning environment.
• Explaining why instructors should be aware of copyright laws, Fair Use guidelines, and the TEACH Act when incorporating multimedia resources in the teaching and learning environment.

Here is an overview of all of the different types of assignments in the course. You can find the detailed directions for the assignments and the grading rubrics in the module where they are assigned.

Assignments

The assignments in each module can help you practice what you learned and apply it to solve a problem. They can prepare you for the proctored assessments.

Discussions

The discussion activities provide you with an opportunity to deeply reflect on the readings assigned to each module and apply them to a problem. They can prepare you for the projects and the proctored assessments. Online discussion allows time to weave your thoughts and reflect on the readings and your experiences. All of the posts on the discussion board are required to be thoughtful, reflective, and concise.

Quizzes

The quizzes will provide you with an opportunity to check your understanding of what you have learned in class.

Portfolio

The portfolio is a cumulative project that you will add to throughout the course to demonstrate your mastery of each of the ISTE Standards for Educators. Your e-Portfolio will serve as a reflection of your learning and a collection of resources to use within your classroom. Your e-Portfolio will also provide a means to share your learning and resources with other teachers.
