Here is an overview of all of the different types of assignments in the course. You can find the detailed directions for the assignments and the grading rubrics in the module where they are assigned.

Discussion Activities

The discussion activities provide you with an opportunity to deeply reflect on the readings assigned to each module and apply them to a problem. They are intended to prepare you for the major writing assignments and the final (major) assessment. Online discussion allows time to weave your thoughts and reflect on the readings and your experiences. All of the posts in the Discussions are required to be thoughtful, reflective, and concise.

Written Assignments/Essays

There are three major essays in this course: A Rhetorical Analysis of an Ad, a Podcasting Script (with a recording), and an Argumentative Essay -- the focus of the course. These are the three major assignments in the course.

Peer Reviews

You will collaborate with your peers during the major essays. This collaboration will help you apply what you have learned in class while gaining valuable experience working with others to achieve a common goal.

Major Assessment

The major assessment in ENG 112 provides you with an opportunity to reflect deeply on the writing you have done in the course and demonstrate your skills and growth as a writer and learner.
