English 241 is a chronological "survey" of American Literature before the Civil War. We cover the period in North America from roughly 1500-1860.

Each Module contains four basic assignments:

1. Discussion Board: students talk about the readings with each other
2. Challenge Task: a brief reading/writing assignment to get you started
3. Writing Assignment: a brief "formal" academic response writing
4. Quiz: ten multiple choice questions on the readings

As already referenced in Grading, ENG 241 also includes two major papers (100 points each) and two exams (100 points each).
