ENG 243-244 studies major English works from the Anglo-Saxon period to the present, emphasizing the ideas and characteristics of the British literary tradition. The purpose of this course is to acquaint the student with some of the more import ant works of English literature as well as with the authors and their themes, and the historical, cultural and aesthetic cont exts in which they were produced.
