In this course we will examine American literary traditions and texts from diverse time periods, genres, and authors. Through a series of close readings, discussions, social annotations, conversations in text, and various other writing activities and challenge tasks, you will analyze literary works within their historical, cultural, social, and/or literary contexts. We emphasize the skill of close reading and hope the work we do together will help you develop your critical thinking and interpretive skills. This is a UCGS transfer course.
