Discussions will facilitate articulating an understanding of course material. Discussions will focus on critical analysis of the material, not simply personal opinions. Observations through critical thinking will gauge students' active and critical intellectual engagement with the material.
The short presentation requires you to craft and deliver a 3-5 minute speech on a contemporary controversial issue of your choice that relates to health and reproductive choices, sexual health, family, or power. The goal is to persuade your classmates to accept your viewpoint.
Quizzes function to gauge and assess comprehension of lectures and readings. There are two types of quizzes in the course, video quizzes and regular quizzes. The video quizzes are embedded in the lectures for each module. Please watch the lectures and answer the questions.
The research paper will allow students to engage intellectually with a specific issue studied in class through research and critical thinking. Students will choose a topic of interest and, with the instructor's guidance, will plan a research strategy for the paper.
There are two proctored assessments in the course. They are to check your understanding of the concepts learned in the course. Please find the information on how to take a proctored assessment in the Taking Proctored Assessments section below.
