There are three main types of assignments in the course:
Learning activities are non-graded activities which are designed to enhance your learning of the subject matter presented in each Module. You will find activities such as watching Concept Videos, End of Chapter Review questions, PowerPoint presentations, Interactive Training, and Hands-on Application practice.
Learning assessments are graded assessments which will help you apply and communicate what you have learned in each Module. You will find graded assessments such as Discussions, End of Chapter Projects, End of Chapter Review questions, Critical Thinking Activities, and hands on applications.
The proctored assessments provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate your mastery of the course knowledge. You can find the information on how to take proctored assessments in the Taking Proctored Assessments section of the Syllabus.
Below is an overview of all of the different types of assignments in the course. You can find the detailed directions for the assignments and the grading rubrics in the module where they are assigned.
End of Chapter Review QuestionsThe End of Chapter Review Questions will help you go over material you have learned and prepare you for the proctored assessments.
Simulation ActivitiesThe Simulation Activities can help you practice what you learned and apply it to solve a problem.
DiscussionsThe discussions will allow you to communicate and collaborate with other students in the class. Each discussion is associated with a specific content module
Collaboration ProjectA group project where students will work together to investigate Emerging Technologies in Information Systems and present the findings in a PowerPoint presentation.
Research/ EssayStudents will use the web research and APA formatting skills learned in the course to research a career of interest in IT and write an essay on the findings using the APA style.
Web DevelopmentStudents will design and develop a basic web page and upload it to the NVCC web server.
