Here is an overview of all of the different types of assignments in the course. You can find the detailed directions for the assignments and the grading rubrics in the module where they are assigned.

Proctored Assessments

Assessments are administered online and test the material covered in lecture and the textbook. Assessment question formats will vary at the discretion of the instructor. Questions may consist of – but are not limited to – true/false, multiple-choice, short-answer questions, applied demonstration of knowledge, and critical thinking problems.

Online-Activities

Hands-on learning is the process of learning by doing and evaluates the student’s ability to practically apply their knowledge of Linux commands to a real-world scenario.

Assigned Reading Quizzes

Assigned Reading quizzes will be administered throughout the semester to gauge whether the student is keeping up with the required readings. Students cannot make up missed Assigned Reading quizzes.

Student Introduction Discussion Board Post

On the first week of class, students are given the assignment to post a student introduction to the Canvas Discussion Board as a way of introducing themselves to the instructor and their fellow students. Due dates for the discussion board milestones are posted on Canvas.

These exercises evaluate a student’s comprehension of the textbook chapter concepts.
