Your course grade will be determined by successful completion of the following assignments:

Extra Credit:

Please note: There are many extra credit opportunities in the course. It is to provide you with opportunities to do the activities that you are really interested in. However, this doesn't mean that you will receive all of the extra credits provided in the course. Here is the extra credit rule:

1. You can only receive extra credits up to 6% of course grade or a total of 35 points on all possible extra credit assignments no matter how much extra credit you do.
2. Extra credit can raise your grade no more than one letter grade (C to B etc) no matter how much extra credit you do.
3. Extra credit can NOT be approved unless you have submitted at least 80% of the course work to date. Missing work beyond this must be submitted for no credit to qualify for extra credit.

Possible Extra Credit Assignments:

• There are four quizzes in the course. You are required to complete three of them. You will receive up to 10 extra points if you took the fourth quiz.
• There are four discussion activities. You are required to complete three of them. You will receive up to 10 extra points if you completed all of the discussion activities.
• You can choose to do either Chapter 11 IM exercises or Chapter 12 IM exercises. If you finished both of them, you will receive up to 10 extra points.
• Chapter 13 is optional. If you submit Chapter 13 IM exercises, you will receive up to 10 extra points.
• There are extra application problems in the proctored assessments. You will receive up to 5 extra points if you do one additional problem.
• Other extra credit assignments related to current weather may be assigned based on your instructor's discretion.

Final Course Grade

NOVA Online proctored or major assessments are required to maintain compliance with our accreditation standards and the Higher Education Act’s identity verification requirements for online courses. College-wide, proctored or major assessments must prove identity. To accomplish this in online courses, students must show overall passing levels on the proctored or major assessments in order to pass the course.

There are no makeup assessments in the course.

Note on Total Points and Gradebook: The total points for the Course is 600 points. The gradebook shows more than that. That point total should be ignored. It reflects ALL regular assignments, extra credit, and self-assessment assignments. I will post your final letter grade in NOVAConnect.

In this online course, if your average score on all proctored or major assessments is a passing percentage of 60 percent or higher, then your grade will be calculated according to the scale in the table below. Otherwise, a final grade of F will be assigned.
