This course will introduce you to the academic discipline of religious studies. This course is a survey of two thousand years of the Christian tradition. It describes the history, theology, and practices of Christianity. This course examines the origins and historical development of Christianity, its basic metaphysical and theological assumptions and essential doctrines. It also examines the present state of the church in the modern world.

This class does not have a prerequisite, other than the willingness to approach the material in an academic and historical manner rather than in a devotional manner. You can be of any religious background or no religious background. Courses in religious studies taught in a state-supported school do not seek to convert anyone, but provide an opportunity to study the subject of religion as part of a well-rounded liberal arts curriculum.
