Course Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for SOC 212.

However, to be successful in this course, it is it is strongly recommended you have obtained a satisfactory placement score for ENG 111 or have completed the course. It is helpful to have an interest in anthropology; the ability to think critically; and the skills to do basic computer procedures such as navigate in Canvas; conduct Internet research; access and reply to emails and add attachments; and wordprocessing.

Course Description

A general introduction to sociology which focuses on the individual and the social processes that create the individual. A basic definition of sociology presented in defense of the science, in definition of the methodology and as a portrait of the art.

General Course Purpose

This course acquaints the student with fundamental sociological concepts, research, and theory.
