Discussion Posts

Additional veterinary medicine discussions include; zoo medicine, wildlife (apiary inspections) and poultry medicine. These discussions are designed to jump-start a discussion about the “other side” of veterinary medicine… exotic animals. They will promote group discussion between the instructor and classmates. Be courteous in your response and reply. Do not become a cyber bully.


Assignments

The assignments in the course are an important asset in student learning. These assignments are designed to focus on specific veterinary medicine topics such as; zoo medicine, knowledge of wildlife laws, poultry medicine and laboratory animal model designs, all of which require the expertise of veterinary technicians.


Quizzes

The quizzes in this course are open book, open notes.


Exotic skills and techniques

You will be required to complete and document proficiency of required skills to be completed on rodents (mice or rats), rabbits and birds. You’ll receive either a pass or fail grade on each of the skills sheets. You must pass each skill to pass VET 217: INTRODUCTION TO LABORATORY, ZOO AND WILDLIFE MEDICINE. Practice each skill until you are able to perform it successfully. If you don’t pass the skill(s) on your first attempt, you’ll be given the opportunity to repeat the skill(s) a second time.

You must pass all exotic animal skills tasks to graduate.


Proctored Assessments

There are 2 Proctored Assessments (Midterm and Final). You have 120 minutes to complete the midterm assessment and 120 minutes to complete the final assessment.
