Major Topics to be Covered:

Lessons and Writing Assignments

The discussion assignments are generally based on material from or inspired by the textbook chapters and news related to animal pharmacology. Additional research is required in some instances.

Review Quizzes

There are practice quizzes on various topics with suggested readings from McCurnin's and Mosby's Comprehensive Review for Veterinary Technicians. You may take the quizzes at home on your own computer; there is no need for a proctor. You may take the quizzes more than once and your scores on the quizzes do not impact your grade. However, you must complete the quizzes before the last assignment deadline at the end of the semester. The Adaptive Quizzing feature for your McCurnin's textbook will also be available for quiz practice.

Advanced Clinical Technique Paper

You are to write a report that explains an advanced clinical technique in which a veterinary technician plays a vital role. The report should include a step-by-step feature with important background information such as indications, contraindications, dangers, complications, and precautions to take.

Clinical Videos

You will need to submit at least three sets of videos for evaluation demonstrating your participation in patient assessment and treatment, dental prophylaxis or cleaning, anesthesia, and surgery cases. The videos may be submitted in any order you wish but there is a separate due date for each video set- video 1, video 2, video 3. Some students may need to separate the tasks and do a fourth video, or submit multiple video clips, but the videos must be submitted on a schedule based on the due dates.

Lab Visits to Campus, Field Trips

Further information will be provided in the course modules and in the course calendar.

Assessments

There are two proctored assessments in this course, the Midterm and the Final. Each assessment is worth 10 percent of your final grade. Both are multiple choice.
