Course Description

This course focuses on the relationship between culture and geography. It presents a survey of modern demographics, landscape modification, material and nonmaterial culture, language, race and ethnicity, religion, politics, and economic activities. It introduces the student to types and uses of maps.

General Course Purpose

The purpose of the course is to provide basic knowledge and understanding of the spatial patterns of humans and human activities. Although the basic context of the course deals with the world today, the historic background for most of the topics is studied and analyzed.
