In order to successfully complete this course, students must demonstrate their understanding of the course materials by completing the following assignments:

Discussions

There are three graded discussions.

• Introduction Discussion: You will introduce yourself and get to know your classmates.
• Acceleration of Gravity Lab Discussion: You will be divided into small groups and discuss the acceleration of gravity on different planets. 
• Earth Magnetic Field Lab Discussion: The entire class will collaborate on a Google map shared by the instructor to see a pattern of the magnetic field around the Earth.

Short Physics Videos

You will prepare two short videos based on a series of hands-on activities suggested in the text. 

Labs 

There are 11 laboratory assignments in the course. Four of the labs will be performed with the help of online simulations, three of them will be done using a smartphone/smart device, and three labs will be completed using materials easily found at home.

The video tutorials for each module are on Mastering Physics linked from your Canvas course site.

Homework

For each module, you must complete the chapter homework on Mastering Physics linked from your Canvas course site.

Exams

There are five proctored assessments in this course. The purpose of these exams is to verify your identity and test your knowledge of the course concepts. Each exam is closed-book and timed and allows one attempt only. You must earn at least 60% across all exams to pass this course (regardless of other points earned).
