Before getting started, please complete the following 3 steps to ensure that your computer system and you meet the minimum requirements to be successful in this course.

1. Check your computer setup

  • Configure your browser for Canvas and install any plugins that you may need:
    Supported Browsers and Required Plugins and Privacy Settings 
  • If you need additional technical support after completing your system check, visit the Student Support section in the Welcome/Getting Started module or contact NOVA Online IT Support for assistance.

2. Check your equipment

• • You need to have a webcam in order to take the Proctored Assessments in online courses at NOVA Online. Please check the Proctored Assessments module in the course and review the college’s minimum technology standards by pathway/school early on to be sure you will have everything you need in place to successfully complete your Proctored Assessments.

3. Check your understanding of Canvas.

• • Please watch the Introduction to Canvas video [Length 2:31] and the Canvas Dashboard video [Length: 2:59]. These videos can help you become familiar with the interface of Canvas and get ready for the course.
