Discussion Board Activities

There are 3 discussion board activities which provide you with an opportunity to deeply reflect on the readings assigned to each module and apply them to a problem. They can also prepare you for the quizzes and the proctored assessments. Online discussion allows time to weave your thoughts and reflect on the readings and your experiences. All of the posts on the discussion board are required to be thoughtful, reflective, and concise.

Proctored Assessments

There are 2 exams and 4 Critical Thinking Essay Quizzes to provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate your mastery of the course knowledge. You can find the information on how to take proctored assessments in the Taking Proctored Assessments section of the Syllabus.

Art Museum Paper

The Museum Paper assignment will fulfill course requirements to “develop a formal vocabulary to describe art,” “distinguish art historical periods and recognize their stylistic traits,” and “evaluate works of art within their historical context.” It will also bring you out of the textbook and encourage you to visit a museum either in person or virtually.

The Still Life Project

The Still Life assignment will fulfill course requirements to "develop a formal vocabulary to describe art."  Students will explore how art can relate to different parts of society, culture, and identity and consider how objects and artworks can communicate specific ideas or meaning through symbolism and iconography.
