This course surveys the history of modern architecture, sculpture, painting, and graphic arts in representational and non-representational forms. It focuses on the periods and movements that influenced the arts of the twentieth century, and emphasizes contemporary art forms, particularly the interaction between art and society, industry, and design.

In this course, you will develop basic knowledge and comprehension of historical and contemporary art movements in order to critically evaluate the role of social, cultural and global connections through art historical analysis. This course is an art history elective for Fine Arts AFA degree students and will also serve as a transfer course for other degree programs as a fine arts/humanities elective.
