Quiz / Exam Evaluations:
This course's objectives focuses on both the production and receptive of ASL. Quiz and Exam work will evaluate understanding of fluent ASL including fingerspelling; students’ production of ASL will also be evaluated. Signs should be clear and signs should also be formed correctly, signed in a fluent manner and accompanied by appropriate facial grammar and spatial references, eye gazes, topicalization, appropriate pauses for both individual signs and ASL sentences. The written portions of quizzes and exams should be clear, accurate and thoughtful with in-depth answers to questions based on workbook materials and additional articles.
Video Journals:
You will make 2 video journals for this course. Videos can be created directly in Canvas or uploaded to Youtube and the link can be posted on Canvas. The directions for making these videos will be found in your course.
During each unit, it is expected that you watch the DVD and complete and the activities and reading. Since the class moves quickly, I recommend that you watch the videotape immediately prior to and again during a unit. It is your responsibility to ask questions since you will be tested in material in your book / DVD as well as class lecture. These will not be graded.
