Course Objectives

Upon successfully completing this course, you will have met the following goals:

  1. Goal 1 - Students will be able to use simple sentence patterns in their writing. After generating ideas about a topic, students will be able to:
    • Construct simple sentences
    • Use punctuation appropriately
  2. Goal 2 - Students will build fluency and accuracy in their writing. Given a topic, students will be able to:
    • Develop ideas through free-writing
    • Focus and organize ideas through planning, outlining, and drafting
    • Refine writing by reviewing and revising
    • Edit writing focusing on basic mechanics
    • Edit writing for verb forms, verb tense, and word forms
