Upon Completion of the course, you should have the following competencies:

A. Listening.

You will add to listening skills using learned vocabulary in context. You will be able to comprehend varied question types, basic sentences and begin to understand longer more complex sentence structures.

B. Speaking.

Through basic communicative exchanges with partners and the instructor, you will be able to communicate with more complex sentence structures building on their basic level, which includes posing and answering questions. These exchanges may include autobiographical information and contextual situations pertinent to each chapter.

C. Reading.

You will be able to read and interpret longer and more detailed reading sections and instructions which include learned vocabulary pertaining to culture and information in each chapter.

D. Writing.

You will build upon you knowledge of basic sentence structure in 102 as you learn more grammatical structures in each chapter to enable you to write longer and more detailed sentences. Grammatical structures to be covered will include the Präteritum tense, Genitive case and Subjunctive II tense.

E. Culture.

Culture is an integral part of language learning in 102 and is included in subject themes and reading sections within each chapter. Culture is also acquired through teacher presentation and how the language is used in context.
