The following are required for entry into this course:

This course is an intermediate, skills-oriented Japanese language course that is the fourth semester of a two-year program. The primary goal of the program is to assist you to achieve proficiency (after this semester) that corresponds roughly to the Intermediate Low / Mid level of the proficiency guidelines of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. This course follows the Japanese 201 (Intermediate Japanese I) course. Emphasizing all four skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing), the fourth semester will assist you to acquire communicative competence in a wider variety of situations (e.g. expressing physical conditions, asking for help, making polite request, giving suggestions, making and describing travel plans and work plans, expressing future plans and current states, expressing what to do to achieve future objectives, asking for favors, and offering help.). In addition, you will be introduced to some Japanese dialects. Various cultural aspects of Japan including customs, traditions, and ways of thinking will be introduced and expected to be learned along with grammar, vocabulary, and kanji. In this course, you will learn 65 more Kanji besides the 127 you learned in 101, 102 and 201. (We will cover Chapter 1~3 and some grammar of Chapter 4 from なかま 2)
