In order to successfully complete this course, you must demonstrate your understanding of the course materials by:

Here is an overview of all of the different types of assignments in the course. You can find the detailed directions for the assignments and the grading rubrics in the module where they are assigned.

The Role of Discussion Board

The Discussion Board is the equivalent in an online course to a face-to-face discussion in a classroom-based course. This is the place where students discuss course topics with the instructor and each other. Just as in a regular classroom, a good deal of learning takes place through the interaction that these discussions will stimulate.

Each of the four modules of the course has a Discussion Forum assignment worth up to 75 points. These assignments will test your ability to clearly explain in writing and critically evaluate the positions taken by the philosophers we are studying.

Module Quizzes

The module quizzes are a reflection of the proctored assessments. They can help you monitor your own learning, get you familiar with the testing environment in Canvas, and prepare you for the proctored assessments.

Ethics in the Real World Paper

This assignment is deigned to help you express conclusions, analyze and express how these conclusions are supported by evidence. You will also learn how to present effectively in writing an extended argument on a topic of ethical importance.

Proctored Assessments

The proctored assessments provide you an opportunity to demonstrate that you have achieved the learning objectives. You can find the information on how to take proctored assessments in the Taking Proctored Assessments section of the Syllabus.
