HLT 141 Introduction to Medical Terminology

Overview

Welcome to HLT 141and NOVA’s online learning community of HLT 141 and ITE 115. What we have discovered about learning communities is that those involved feel a special connection to their classmates and to their instructors. One of the reasons for this is that the same students are enrolled in both courses and work together. One of our goals is to create a “community” where the students and instructors learn from each other. As you get to know each other better, you will feel a greater connection to the course and help each other remain motivated throughout the semester. Another exciting component to the learning community is that the success skills you learn in HLT 141 will apply directly to your ITE course. You will find that quite a few of our activities will assist you directly with what you are doing in ITE.

NOTE: This is an eight week course; it will move fast and cover multiple chapters/modules each week.

This introductory course is designed to provide students with a working knowledge of the language of medicine. What you learn in this course will benefit you by preparing you for the language spoken in the medical field. What you learn will prepare you for success in future courses and provide you with understanding of the challenges that face allied health students.
