PSY 270 - Psychology of Human Sexuality - 3 Credits

Overview

Psychology 270 covers the scientific investigation of human sexuality and the psychological implications of such research. It includes the study of reproductive anatomy, sexual orientation and expression, sexually transmitted diseases and safe sex, sexual dysfunction and sex therapy, and the psychological aspects of gender and media. This course takes an empirical approach to sexology and does not attempt to resolve religious and political issues. This involves a biopsychosocial focus, which suggests that biological, individual, and cultural factors need to be considered to achieve a full understanding of the individual.

Prerequisites : There are no prerequisites for this class, but English 111 and 112 are recommended, particularly for those who do not have a lot of experience with writing. I will assume you have mastered the mechanics of writing such as grammar, spelling, and clear presentation. If you have taken Introduction to Psychology you will recognize some of the concepts.
