You chose the following answer to Question 2:
Choice b)
"They said she had died of heart
disease --of the joy that kills."
Mrs. Mallard, the main character in Kate Chopin's work, "The
Story of an Hour," dies at the end of the story when she learns
that the husband she had believed dead, returns alive and well.
Through the story Chopin communicates that even if women are happily
married, the "joy" of marriage destroys a significant
part of them.

This introduction opens with a curious quote from the story:
"joy" is generally not associated with killing. The
sentence that follows is a very brief summary of the story that provides
at least a partial explanation of the opening quotation. The final
sentence of the introduction is a thesis statement. It is
connected to the opening quote by the repeated use of the word,
"joy." This introduction provokes the reader's
curiosity, provides the reader a sense of the direction the essay will
go, and gives a context through the summary for understanding the essay
that follows. This is a good introductory paragraph.
