HIS 111
Extra Credit Special Project
Paper Assignment
Well, I don't
expect many of you to travel overseas for extra credit and visit Notre
Dame de Reims Cathedral in Reims, France (the heart of Champagne), but
you can go to downtown Washington, DC and visit the Washington National
Cathedral (aka the Cathedral Church of Saint Paul and Saint
Peter). I have another picture of, with some comments about,
Reims Cathedral in my HIS 101 course, Unit 12.

Since all students should enjoy their enrollment in this history
course and, at the same time, earn the best possible grade, each
student may do one of the
HIS 111 Special Projects listed
for extra credit. Each project should be about two pages (maybe longer) in
length. In addition, your project must include complete bibliographic citation at the top left of
the page (if necessary) with your name and date. Note that some projects
require the submission of a brochure.
The project should be sent to your course
instructor following the directions
for submitting assignments.
Please take a moment to review
Charlie's History Writing Center for
specific information on the writing requirements for the assignments in the
course.
A brochure should be sent to the following address:
Extended Learning Institute
ATTN: HIS 111
Northern Virginia Community College
8333 Little River Turnpike
Annandale, VA 22003-3796
Finally, since I am still working on the details of this assignment, students
may email to me (for extra credit) suggestions for movies, books, museums and activities.
The Optional Extra Credit Special Project is worth a maximum of
between 50 and 100 points.
